TVR Chimaera 400 1994 that has been subject to significant renovation work over the three years of its current ownership. In this time the car has had substantial refurbishment and upgrade work undertaken to the chassis, suspension and brakes. This includes replacement of the outriggers immediately prior to the current ownership and a full suspension rebuild undertaken by TVR101 including replacement of all suspension wishbones and bushes and fitment of replacement Proshocks coilovers all round. As well as the suspension rebuild, TVR101 have fitted reconditioned rear brake calipers and replacement fuel and coolant hoses and a new alternator as well as carrying out more routine servicing. In addition new Wilwood 4-pot front brake callipers with 300mm discs replacing the original single pot 240mm front brakes were fitted by a local garage by a mechanic who is a serial TVR owner. The car is fitted with 16inch wheels all round, as fitted to later Chimaeras, in order to accommodate the larger front brakes. Numerous minor items such as ignition coil, ignition leads, belts and other minor items have been fitted as required or as precautionary replacements. This has resulted in a vehicle that handles well, has significantly better braking performance than when it left the factory and has been completely reliable during the current ownership.
The car is one of the earlier Chimaeras to be fitted with the more desirable T5 gearbox whilst having the earlier style of front grill etc.
In the current ownership the car has toured France in mid-summer temperatures with none of the overheating or hot start issues that some Chimaeras can suffer.
There remains room for cosmetic improvements with the paintwork, whilst presentable, suffering from typical age related minor defects and the interior showing signs of ageing to the leather but with no tears and hence refurbishable. The lower dash wood veneer is cracked but in place. The hood is slightly tatty around the edges but has no tears, is watertight and the rear window is clear and supple.
The car is in good useable condition rather than being a "trailer queen" and has just been serviced by TVR101 along with receiving a new MoT with no defects noted.
Examination of the MoT history confirms that the car has seen consistent light usage rather than being stored for long periods.
The personal plate, approximating to L 4000 V8 with a little imagination, will remain on the vehicle.
A large amount of paperwork accompanies the car detailing much of the work carried out prior to and during the current ownership.
