Rolls Royce Silver Seraph Auto 1998 offered for sale. 2 previous owners only 1,570 total Hand built in its 5 year production by Rolls Royce £155k new. Please note that the Private Plate is not included and an age related plate will be given.
This Rolls Royce drives, comforts, cossets and delights like only a Rolls Royce can. A much loved member of the seller’s family for the past 14 years, she has been lightly used, always garaged and comes with a new MOT, has just been serviced and has a full service history including the interesting internal factory production records file. Two new tyres and the remaining have plenty of tread. The car comes with all manuals and 2 sets of keys. The owner considers the Wild Berry maroon paintwork coupled with the typical Rolls Royce magnolia Swedish leather and special order colour matched dashboard leather roll top to be the most attractive finish for this model - see photographs.
The Silver Seraph represents the culmination of the U.K. designed and built Crewe factory cars before the marque was acquired by BMW and is thus the end of a story line and is possibly a future collectable classic. In many ways it combines the best of both worlds; a traditional hand built superb body and interior coupled with the speed, comfort, refinement and relative economy of the modern V12 BMW engine fitted. The computer controlled suspension monitors driving style and adapts accordingly so this is a Rolls Royce that actually corners and handles well in addition to the expected RR ride comfort. It goes without saying that a 322 bhp engine gives swift performance; 7.1 secs to 60 and 140mph. In the owner’s hands it’s returned 18 to 27 mpg; typically 21mpg.
Like any used car there are some imperfections. Minor corrosion on the alloy wheels, A slight lipstick stain on one rear seat. The cruise control is inoperative. The airbag warning flickers on occasionally, but not permanently. There is an issue with the oil pressure sensor or wiring according to the servicing garage pointing towards an oil pressure transducer fault. As a result the gauge while reading normally for most of the time can flicker around. This first occurred early in the current owners ownership and was cured for years by fitting a new sensor but recently the problem has returned. This auction reflects a chance to acquire a car that usually forecourts at 30,000 GBP to 55,000 GBP at an advantageous price.
