Land Rover Series I 1955 offered for sale in excellent original condition. The vehicle is MOT exempt but was tested until 2021, and is also tax exempt. This seven-seat configuration example is presented in the most popular deep bronze and limestone colour scheme and is offered with the much desired "cat-flap" back door, which was the first generation of the 'split tailgate' later to be found in Range Rovers.
This vehicle comes from a small collection of period Land Rovers and was purchased by the present owner back in 2018. The last MOT was back in 2021 which expired 2022, by Castle Body Works with mileage of 6507. It had an annual service at 6453, the battery was replaced in March 2023, and it had a new starter motor in April 2022. In 2016/17 it underwent a major renovation, including chassis, body and upholstery by the previous owner, who was a well-known series 1 specialist.
The paint is good all round and the bumpers and trim are in excellent order. It has new 7.50R 16 Period Avon Range Master tyres with fresh tubes and there is also a British Motor Heritage certificate confirming production and delivery date within the history file. The vehicle has vintage number plates, tow ball, rear grab handles, and wing top period mounted mirrors, a full set of 3 front seats, and the rear is fitted out with a smart pair of bench seats. There is a heater fitted with which to demist the windscreen helping with the cold winter mornings and condensation. The tailgate is fitted with chains to allow easy access to the load area.
