Ford Granada MK2 2.8GL Estate Automatic 1985, B registration and has an MOT till 2025. The car has covered 162,000 miles with a replacement engine fitted some years ago at around 120,000 miles. The Granada has had 4 previous owners and has fully documented and detailed history with brochure and handbook. The full history documented backs the mileage up (162,000 miles). The later fitted engine (believed originally from MK3 Granada or Sierra) is suitable for unleaded petrol.
The standard factory features on a GL were electric windows all round, electric operated and heated door mirrors, sliding steel sunroof, central locking, electric driver's seat, power steering and bronze tinted glass. A range of upgrades have been fitted, all keeping with the Ford options available in 1985: Ghia wheels, body colour coded grille, original Ford front driving and fog lamps, Granada Injection front spoiler, Ghia front over riders with headlamp washers, rear seat belts, additional nearside rear fog lamp, and external sunroof visor (this has slight surface discolouration to one small area). The headlights are also upgraded with better bulbs and twin relays giving an (almost) modern lighting experience.
This vehicle has been maintained on a no expense spared basis. The bodywork is described as being in excellent and mostly original condition, with a recent paint refresh being undertaken. Two genuine Ford front wings were fitted in 1994 and are in good condition, and the upper front valance was also replaced. The rear bumper was also re-chromed in 2022. There is no rot as the car has had a good few coats of red oxide primer applied underneath many years ago. Waxoyl has also been applied generously inside the doors, tailgate, and bulkhead and inside the front edge of the bonnet (that is responsible for the brown discolouration on the bulkhead in the engine bay).
As expected for a car this age, there are few minor and hardly noticeable age-related paint and body panel imperfections (including a few small dents to the decorative roof edge chrome trim). The fuel tank was fully refurbished by the 3rd owner and at the same time as the engine replacement, a new Weber 38 DGAS carb with modified American V8 air filter was fitted. The carb has been fully serviced during the current vendor’s ownership with all fuel pipes and fuel pump being replaced at the same time. The gearbox is described as being in great shape, having been fully oil serviced in March 2016 and at same time, the vendor has a professionally reconditioned torque converter fitted. The gearbox oil cooler in the bottom of the radiator is now redundant as there is a large separate oil cooler fitted in front of the radiator instead. The cooling fan has been replaced with a thermostatically controlled electric fan and the suspension is described as being in excellent order with 4 replacement springs (rear ones are heavy duty items), shock absorbers (rear shocks are Monroe “Ride-Leveller” and are air adjustable) and front ball joints being fitted recently in terms of mileage. All 5 wheels have been refurbished and were fitted with 5 Kumho tyres that have only done a few thousand miles since.
The interior is described as in excellent condition and a Sierra Azura steering wheel was fitted. The top of the dash binnacle does have a noticeable split and all instrument work as expected. A Pioneer mp3 CD player with 4 professionally fitted quality speakers and fully automatic electrical aerial (currently inoperative) was fitted. Included with the car, is the original Granada estate Ghia/Ghia X/ Chasseur chrome roof rack complete with all rubber fittings, a high quality outdoor car cover’ and a few service items and spares which may prove useful.
