Jaguar mark 2 3.8 Saloon 1959. This car is a very early example with all the early car features such as recessed sun visors, pendant throttle pedal, smooth painted centre dash, right hand indicator switch, left hand overdrive switch, pressed steel top wishbones and flat headlights. The car chassis number shows it as the 398th made in 2400cc form but was later upgraded to 3800cc including limited slip diff and there is an invoice in the history for this. The car spent most of its life in South Africa and unusually comes with a large history file from then. The life in South Africa has suited the car well and has left it in a very solid state with very little corrosion and the long-term jaguar car club member looked after the car very well and did everything that was needed to keep the car in top condition. New chrome wire wheels with stainless steel spokes have been fitted recently with four new tyres and a stainless steel exhaust system. The car comes with a Jaguar heritage certificate showing manufactured on 27th November 1959 and shipped to cape town on 3rd December. The original tool box is also with the car. The engine is said to run very well with the gearbox working as it should and the overdrive in full working order. The interior is excellent with good head lining, wood. carpet, door cards and leather. The paintwork has recently been polished and is in very good order.
A V5 registration document has now been issued and shows 0 former keepers and declared manufactured 1959. It correctly states it is a 3.8 on the V5 document. New registration plates have been fitted to the vehicle.
