This model Peugeot 205 is the phase two, 130 BHP pre-catalytic converter version in its original Miami Blue colour scheme, by far the most desirable combination for the 205 GTI.
The vendor purchased J737 MNM in March 2010. It was used initially as a daily driver and also for many car shows as part of the Peugeot Sport Owners Club. This continued until 2016, when a seized rear beam and general tiredness took the car off the road pending a full restoration.

The engine was dispatched to marque specialist Pug Racing in 2018 and subject to a full engine and cylinder head rebuild to original factory specification at a cost of £2,500. Following a few false starts, the stripped shell was entrusted to Lushington Hill Body shop who have an excellent reputation for work on classic vehicles. They worked on the car as the ‘in between’ job for 9 months, completely stripping it to bare metal and dealing with any rust patches. The car was returned in September 2019 looking pristine at a cost of £7,200.
There then began the long process of rebuilding. The vendor took the trouble to apply three coats of epoxy resin and three of topcoat to the underside and wheel arches before installing new brake and fuel systems. Every mechanical item was either purchased new or refurbished using the best option available.Invoices for a gearbox rebuild also present. The parts bill alone exceeds £7,000 and the vendor calculates some 600 unpaid hours were invested. The interior is largely original and in overall very good condition. There are a couple of tiny cracks to the dashboard surround which is pretty typical of 1990's French plastic.

The car was largely completed in September 2021, but other projects and fuelling niggles delayed a full return to the road. Private road use kept the car active until
early in 2023 when it was despatched to a local performance car specialist for final commissioning. The air flow meter was recalibrated to correct the fuelling, a 4-wheel alignment set-up completed and a further precautionary cambelt change. The car was then MOT’d, passing without advisories. It now drives perfectly and feels factory fresh.

In addition to all the above restoration invoices, on file are service records going right back to 1992. The sale also includes various spares, including powder coated spare wheel, original car jack and many consumables. The vendor never intended to sell this car and only a house move has caused his ‘fleet’ to be reduced. The vendor also states that a replacement set of clocks/gauges have been fitted in the past which is why there is a mileage change, Previously was 170,000 miles. This however shouldnt be a concern as the car has been rebuilt.
