Austin Mini 1964, 848cc with under 45,000 miles and in original condition offered for sale.

Step back in time and experience the charm of British motoring with this beautifully preserved 1964 Austin Mini 848cc, one of the UK's most iconic cars. With less than 45,000 miles on the clock, this Mini is a rare gem, featuring the smaller 848cc engine—far less common than the 998cc variant preferred by many.

This car has a rich, loving and heart-warming history. It was originally purchased new in October 1964 by an elderly lady, and was maintained by the vendor’s father, a dedicated mechanic. When she could no longer drive, the vendor’s father bought it in September 1995. The vehicle was used sparingly by the vendor’s mother, adding only 500 to 1,000 miles annually until, she could no longer drive it. Subsequently, the vendor’s father showcased it at car shows, always keeping it dry stored in the garage and the ownership of the vehicle was transferred to the son, showing the vehicle has had 2 previous owners.

This vehicle is described as in excellent condition, having been dry stored and meticulously cared for nearly 60 years. The interior is authentic and basic, with no seatbelt law in place when it was made. Features include a floor starter button, floor dip switch, sliding windows, and cable door openers. The vehicle is equipped with a long gear stick and still wired for positive-earth with its original dynamo. The car remains in completely original condition, boasting a unique patina where the paint has been T-cut and polished down to the undercoat in places. The only non-original feature is a custom carpet installed by the previous owner. They also modified the driver’s seat with an extension to accommodate a knee replacement surgery, allowing him easier access.

The vehicle starts effortlessly at the press of the floor starter button and runs impeccably. Driving the car is like a nostalgic journey to the past and attracts attention and admiration wherever it goes. In the documentation, there are MOTs showing the mileage between 1995 and 2019 with the exception of a few years when it was completely dry stored and there are several years’ worth of tax discs.
